We just finished the election process and now have a new president. The choices in the election were very discouraging as neither candidate deserved to be on the ballot. This didn't really give the American people a choice... it was either the candidate who was very very bad or the candidate who was worse.
The American people are now and have been for and extended period of time feeling desperate. Obama promised change and as racist as we are (and we are racist), the American people were so ready for change that they even elected a black man as president (unimaginable before it happened). Obama, it turns out, offered no change at all. Everything was more of the same - even health-care stayed the same in that insurance companies still rule - and health-care was the biggest change that took place and current politics is completely focused on removing that one 'change'.
Trump was elected to deliver change. His unorthodox behavior, bordering on bizarre, offered proof that things would be different under Trump and different is what the American people wanted - at almost any cost.
Different is not what the oligarchy, the wealthy elite, the one-percenters and those who rule from their ivory towers wanted. The people of the top tier of our national systems want everything to stay the same because they are at the top. A change might mean that someone else is at the top and those currently on top will do whatever they deem necessary to remain on top. And, because they are currently on top, they control all of levers of government and can make happen whatever it is that they want to happen.
Immediately, in that desire for change, there is a serious conflict between what the American people want and what the 'leaders' want.
One of the attractive aspects of Trump as a candidate is that he favored better relations with Russia. One of the many faults with Hillary Clinton is that she favored conflict with Russia. Many Americans were able to identify this specific difference between the two candidates and by electing Trump, made there desires known. Polls indicate that Americans overwhelmingly would like to pursue a path toward peace rather than a path toward war.
The 'leadership' in this country is concerned with maintaining their wealth and the systems that produce that wealth... war is that system. The 'military/industrial complex' sucks up the largest share of this nations resources and creates fantastic profits for those who invest in war.
Peaceful relations with Russia is contrary to increased military profits and therefore, peace with Russia is the enemy of our American leadership. The American leadership is in all-out attack mode to make sure there is no improvement in relations with Russia. As a consequence, the American leadership is working hard to destroy the Trump presidency.
There are several aspects of the Trump presidency that actually deserve destruction. Trumps appointments to direct the various government offices and departments are incredibly bad. Apparently, the changes that Trump had in mind were the anthisis of what the American public had in mind when casting their vote for Trump.
Largely, Trumps appointments seem determined to destroy the departments they are to lead. Many items in the fabric of our society are going to be tremendously weakened under Trump appointments. His appointments arrive at their respective posts with multiple ethical deficits, no serious experience in the subject matter and a career of hostility toward the very departments they are to lead.
The previous secretary of energy was a respected nuclear physicist who was experienced in managing scientific institutions. Trumps replacement, Rick Perry, advocated eliminating the Department of Energy, and subsequently we discover he has absolutely no idea what the Department of Energy actually does in real life.
The elite do not care that the educational system is headed by someone who has publicly announced dedication to the destruction of public education. Among her silly beliefs is that schools should be able to have guns in them to defend against attacks by grizzly bear.
Trump's appointment for Secretary of Labor is adamantly against the rights of workers. He is vocally against minimum wage and laws requiring mandating that workers receive break time and overtime pay among other benefits.
For the top post in the Environmental Protection Agency Trump's appointment sued the EPA many times to keep the agency from enforcing environmental laws.
These and other appointments and other issues create doubt about Trumps ability to govern. The public has been greatly disappointed by virtually everything they have received for their vote. As a result, there is a well deserved back-lash.
Here is where thinking or non-thinking enters the equation. 'We the people' need to evaluate the difference between war with Russia and a smooth running agency of the United States government.
The oligarchy is already upset with Trump because he was promising 'change'. The oligarchy made a tremendous effort to defeat Trump throughout the entire election cycle and enough people voted for Trump anyhow that he was able to become president.
The oligarchy, in charge of the media, in charge of all of the spy agencies, in control of virtually everything in this country is making a concerted effort to remove Trump from office. Through their control, they have enlisted the American people through deceptive (fake) news to become involved removing Trump.
It would appear that progressive leaning people would be naturally lined up against Trump. It is exactly these people who need to think things through clearly. We know why the oligarchy wants to maintain the status quo... they want to continue to profit from hostile relations with Russia. But, those progressive people want better relations with Russia. The oligarchy has gotten the progressive community confused. The 'left' wants to protect workers, protect the environment, etc. and wants to remove Trump because of his horrendous appointments.
The oligarchy has already caused Trump to alter his approach to Russia and this is to the detriment of all living creatures on the planet. The difference between Republicans and Democrats is not the issue, although Democrats and Republicans attempt to make it appear that the issues are the difference between elephants and donkeys. And, with the media pushing this type of thinking, the people seem to be buying it.
The real questions at this point are whether or not humanity will continue to prosper on planet Earth or whether or not we will extinguish ourselves in a nuclear exchange. We have already allowed Trump to be pushed off of his program of better relations with Russia.
We all know without any doubt that the motivation of the oligarchy is money. We know that the military/industrial complex is the source of wealth beyond imagination. We know that hostilities against Russia (and China and a long list of others) produces continued flow of profits to the wealthiest among us.
We know that the nuclear weapons of today make the bombs we dropped on Japan seem like children's toys by comparison. We know that the entire planet will suffer the consequences of a nuclear exchange. We know a lot of things. But, we aren't thinking. When we swallow the news reports that push us into protesting Trump's policies (many of which are horrible), we are moving ourselves and our children and grandchildren into a future (hopefully there is a future) wherein civilization as we have known it for several thousand years will not exist.
We need to think these things through to some logical conclusion. We can fix the problems created by bad leadership at some department of the United States government. We can recover from the devastation of domestic disruption to our systems (which all need change).
If we drop some bombs on the Russians and the Russians drop some bombs on us, recovery will not even be a goal... survival, if possible, will be the only thing for humans to work toward. Is that where we want to leave our children and grand-children?
We need to understand that Hillary lost, at least in part, because we recognized that following her could easily lead us to nuclear war. We selected Trump, at least in part, because we believed he wanted to change our approach to relations with Russia. And now, deceived by the media, deceived by the leadership of the military/industrial complex, we are confused. We don't know the difference between left and right.
We need to stand by Trump in his stance of wanting good relations with Russia. We can be upset at other aspects of Trump's administration. We need to distinguish. We need to think clearly. Do we want war? There is not much that is worse than war, and that's the truth !!!
