There are all manner of sayings and expressions that deal with the subject of 'bad' things happening to 'good' people.  There are equally a number of statements about 'good' things happening to 'bad' people.  Literature is filled with quotes about the benefits of maintaining a 'positive' outlook on life and how a certain level of human consciousness produces various results.
We try to convince ourselves that our personal experience in life on planet Earth is determined by our attitude.  Believing oneself to be worthy and capable creates a worthy and capable person.
Conducting  oneself as a generous and kind person directs kindness and generosity toward that person as they travel life's journey.

We want to believe in the ideal that 'goodness' from the individual human leads to 'good' - perhaps not in the immediate, but "on down the road, some good will come from this".
It would be difficult to verify any of this through scientific information - these types of thoughts seem to be hopeful dreams instead of reality.  Karma sounds good and the focus of human energy must have some effect on life, but there are other factors which are, at least, equally important.
If 'karma' is at work in the United States, then our national deeds and/or the spiritual motivation behind our actions has brought us to where we are currently.  There is sufficient reason to believe this to be the case.
We have Donald Trump as our president.  We have embraced 'free enterprise' as our guiding principle, our cultural values are representative of sexism and racism, and we have no concern for future generations.  Donald Trump is the embodiment of all of those things that are important in this country.
He and we only care about 'getting ahead' financially.  Morals and ethics have no place in our greedy selfishness as we collectively pursue the next dollar.  Trump wants to increase his wealth through tax manipulations that will reduce health services available to American citizens.  He is aware that illness and death will clearly be the result, but as long as he gets 'his', he is not concerned.
We, on the other hand, simply envy his position of wealth and power and would gladly trade positions, if we could.  If we were truly concerned about the poor, we could take action of some kind to support those needing assistance.  We don't and we won't.
Republican senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said of Trump, “Through his statements yesterday, President Trump took a step backward by again suggesting there is moral equivalency between the white supremacist neo-Nazis and KKK members who attended the Charlottesville rally and people like Ms Heyer."  He continued, "I, along with many others, do not endorse this moral equivalency.'
Among the 'many others' are former United States presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush who on Wednesday issued a joint statement that condemned the “racial bigotry, antisemitism and hatred” that was clearly identified in Trump's defence of those who took part in the far-right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.  The father and son did not mention Trump by name, but their rare combined intervention came after Trump’s comments that “there is blame on both sides” for the deadly violence on Saturday.
For these republicans, especially these particular republicans whose entire political careers have been  centered on the 'southern strategy', to criticize Trump for racism - well, racism must be involved and we know that these men would recognize it when they see it.  It is who we are in this country, racists.
That we are sexists is explained completely in Trump's statement, "Grab 'em by the pussy".  That we could then endorse this person and elect him as our president completely identifies us.  That says it all on that subject and requires no farther explanation.
We have spent the entire time since ending the 2nd world war by dropping nuclear bombs in pursuit of empire building. This has cost us our entire national budget along with the additional expense of countless millions of human lives around the world.  If there is such a thing as karma...

Our domestic identity is oriented specifically and intentionally as racist and sexist.  Even the racists and sexists among us recognize this as true.

And, whatever Wall Street wants, Wall Street gets regardless of the negative ripples that flow throughout our society.  If there is such a thing as karma...
We have 1.3 million military troops stationed in 177 countries throughout the world.  If there is such a thing as karma...
And, now, science is dead.  Our national policy, under our national leadership rejects science.  Soon, we will officially question gravity.
So, when we look up and see that we have Donald Trump and his appointees directing our national energies, and we wonder where it will all end up, it is important to understand that 'he is us' and we have exactly what we deserve.  Our values are on display, everywhere.  It has taken awhile, but the chickens have finally 'come home to roost'... and that's the truth !!!
