In August 1945, the Korean people, having been brutally impoverished after years of Japanese occupation, celebrated their liberation and immediately started working toward managing their independence. In September that year, delegates from throughout Korea, north and south, created the Korean People’s Republic.
Almost as if in a comedy, the Koreans, victims of the previous war, had become enemies of the United States. And, the Japanese, defeated illegal aggressors, became occupiers of Korea in alliance with the 'victorious' United States. Japan becomes the recipient of massive amounts United States aid and Koreans, having been slaughtered by Japan, are now slaughtered by the United States as 'communists'.
Under President Syngman Rhee (South Korea) massive numbers of farmers, villagers and urban residents were captured, tortured, forced to dig mass graves and shot by Rhee's troops with assistance from the United States.
Americans need to read something other than the silly, stupid magazines at the super-market check-out counter... understanding a bit of history would benefit us tremendously.
We like to paint a picture of those we oppose as being unusual or crazy or irrational and therefore it becomes necessary for us to exercise some sort of 'control' over the situation. An example of this can be found in the The New York Post where Benny Avni mistakenly states, "Equating President Trump’s tough North Korea talk with Kim Jong-un’s bluster, as the president’s critics have done over the past week, is dumb — not least because it’s clear Trump’s tack is working.
After all, one lesson from all this is the value in telling the truth about North Korea. And that doesn’t just mean spelling out the consequences of Kim’s threats, as Trump has done. It also means pointing out the manifold ways Kim oppresses his own people." When referring to the 'truth about North Korea', one must recognize that in the middle of the last century, the United States wiped out a third of the population of that country. That was brutal and devastating and sets a record for percent of population destroyed during a war. North Koreans are aware of this 'truth'. Americans are not. The United States is the leading country in the world for exercising 'regime change' against governments with whom we have disagreements. And, if those governments had a nuclear program but switched from development of nuclear weapons to negotiations with the United States, then we simply over-threw that government. The most recent example of this is Libya where as soon as Colonel Muammar Qaddafi eliminated his nuclear weapons program, the United States eliminated him... we can be sure Kim Jon-un noticed. As pointed out in Altered by Vijay Prashad, "US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told the Security Council that North Korea was ‘begging for war.’ Enough is enough We have taken an incremental approach, and despite the best of intentions, it has not worked.’" Why is North Korea, this country with great economic uncertainty, making such a great effort to build a nuclear arsenal? Why not use its scarce resources to tend to its own people? The War Has Not Ended: US Ambassador Nikki Haley says that the North Koreans are ‘begging for war.’ But North Korea has been in a permanent state of war against South Korea and its allies since June 1950. When the guns stopped firing in July 1953, the war did not end. There has been an armistice since 1953, but no peace treaty. The great barbarity of the US bombing of that country, not only of the bridges on the Yalu River but of dams and schools, hospitals and factories, government offices and residential homes. The United States dropped 635,000 tons of bombs on Korea – more than the US tonnage dropped in the entire Pacific theatre of World War II. Instruction from General Douglas MacArthur was that ‘every installation, every facility, and village in North Korea now becomes a military and tactical target.’ At the close of the bombing, eighteen of twenty-two major North Korean cities were levelled. This is data from the United States Air Force, not from North Korean textbooks. Every American should digest this history.
As we look a little closer to the present, we can see that improvements were on the horizon. North Korea joined the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1985. But, then in 2002, United States President George W. Bush claimed that North Korea was part of the ‘axis of evil.’ The three countries in that axis were Iraq, Iran and North Korea.
The North Koreans didn't suddenly declare that we were their enemy; we suddenly declared that they were our enemy. Knowing history and observing the circumstances of the world, the North Koreans then responded by doing the sensible thing, they decided that they had better get ready to protect themselves. They realized that possessing a nuclear arsenal was their only hope, and, without fundamental changes in the politics of the United States, it is their only hope, and that's the truth !!!
POWs captured while defending Afghanistan and its people from the unlawful war of aggression and occupation by the United States and NATO are inhumanely treated, tortured, and murdered by United States and NATO soldiers acting on the executive orders of the United States president. This image gives concrete evidence of war crimes. POWs are forced to endure a 22-hour flight from Afghanistan to the U.S. military concentration camp at Guantanamo Bay sitting on the bare deck of a military transport plane. The POWs are bound together like livestock, their restraints allowed to bruise and pierce their skin. their air is restricted by a black execution hood and they are forced to sit in the same position for the duration of the flight. The soldier to the right is obviously ashamed of what he is participating in as he is covering his face. But the U.S. Air Force isn’t ashamed as a United States flag was purposely hung over the POWs.
Behold a Pale Horse, and its Rider is Death
By Paul Craig Roberts Two of America's most populous states, Texas and Florida, are in hurricane ruins, and Washington is fomenting more wars. The US national debt is now over $20 trillion, and Washington is fomenting more wars. The entire world is helping Washington foment wars -- including two targeted countries themselves -- Russia and China -- both of which are helping Washington foment more wars. Believe it or not, both Russia and China voted with Washington on the UN Security Council to impose more and harsher sanctions on North Korea, a country guilty of nothing but a desire to have the means to protect itself from the US and not become yet another Washington victim like Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Serbia, and Ukraine overthrown in a US coup and now poverty-stricken. I once thought that Russia and China were checks on Washington's unilateralism, but apparently not. Both governments have been knuckled under by Washington and both voted to punish North Korea for striving to be sufficiently armed to protect its sovereignty from Washington. Why are Russia and China repeating their same mistake that they made when they supported Washington's no-fly UN resolution for Libya, a resolution that Washington and NATO stood on its head when they launched air attacks that helped the CIA organized "jihadists" overthrow Libya's progressive government and murder Gaddafi? Russia knows that it is surrounded by US nuclear and military bases. So does China. The question is: have Russia and China capitulated out of fear? Or is their cooperation with Washington a ruse while they prepare their own strike on Washington, or are the two misguided governments trying to cooperate with Washington a la sanctions so as to avoid having to confront a US military attack on North Korea? It requires much competence to confront evil, and there is probably more evil in Washington than there is competence in Russia and China, two countries interested in being rich to an extent that it might cost them their sovereignty and existence. When you see such potentially powerful countries as Russia and China collapse under Washington's pressure in the UN Security Council, it makes you wonder if the various analyses of Washington's many weaknesses are real, and if they are real, if Russia and China are aware of them. How does one go about explaining how two counries, whose sovereignty is in the way of Washington's world hegemony, help their known enemy bully yet another small country, especially one in their orbit of influence? Russia and China have nothing to fear from North Korean nuclear weapons. Indeed, no one does except a country that attacks North Korea. What is the explanation for Russia and China lining up with Washington's foreign policy against North Korea when Russia and China know that Washington's foreign policy is hostile to Russia and China? Just the other day Washington announced that it was increasing its navy warships in the South China Sea to make sure China doesn't think the South China Sea is Chinese, instead of American, territorial waters. Just the other day more election interfering charges were leveled against Russia. This time Facebook was the mechanism by which Russia stole the US presidential election. These positions taken by Washington are absurd. Yet, they are becoming the reality. The frightening development is that the entire world, the entirely of the UN and Security Council are now captured by Washington in The Matrix. It seems that not even Russia and China can any longer see their own national interest. Russia and China are working hand-in-hand with Washington toward their own demise. It is becoming biblical. Washington the anti-Christ is subverting all good on earth... Behold, a Pale Horse, and its Rider is Washington. |
